The MD-2U-4001 Upconverter provides high quality conversion of NTSC composite (EIA-RS170A) signals or SD-SDI (SMPTE259M) signals to the common HD-SDI (SMPTE292M) video format. Two AES/EBU digital audio, two channels
of analog audio and the embedded SD audio can be selected and embedded into the HD-SDI output.
Powerful signal processing capabilities allow the MD-2U-4001 to produce high
quality HD signals from a wide variety of SD and NTSC sources. Built-in analog to digital converters for both NTSC video and analog audio provide high quality signals, due to adaptive 2D/3D comb fi ltering, 10 bit video resolution and 48kHz/24 bit audio sampling. Individual video component gain controls allow precise color correction settings, and NTSC phase control provides accurate hue rendition. Other video processing controls include aspect ratio control, vertical and horizontal detail enhancement, coring and SD to HD colorimetry conversion. Per-channel audio delay and gain control circuits support maximum flexibility and compatibility with video signals that are processed through the
built-in frame synchronizer.
The MD-2U-4001 Up Converter resides in the MD2000 Series Multi-purpose Frames and the MD-003 1RU Hybrid Frame. Dual redundant power supplies and controller card with remote management software ensures that the system can be controlled and monitored locally and remotely. The MD2000 Series Frames are available as 16 slot/2RU chassis, 2 slot/1RU half rack chassis and 4 slot/1RU MD-003 hybrid chassis (houses up to two MD2000 Series and two MD-003 Series modules.)
