HD, SD, SDTI and DVB-ASI Video Transmitter and Receiver for Fiber Optic Transport

Description

For point-to-point fiber optic connections, there is no better choice than the MD-003 series from Media Links. These units are easy to install, provide a range of signal interfaces, and provide error correction and status monitoring for every signal. The MD-003 Universal Video interface is a key part of this system, providing a single optical TX/RX card set for all types of video signals.

Configuration settings are a thing of the past with the MD-003 Video Transmitter and Receiver modules, which automatically adapt to any valid HD, SD, DVB-ASI, or SDTI signal. Automatic, in-band Forward Error Correction (FEC) eliminates bit errors that may occur from long fiber runs or poor quality splices and connectors.

Through the use of Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM), multiple signals can be combined on a single fiber – up to 16 channels using economical CWDM, or 32 channels using high-powered DWDM.

Two different frames have been designed for MD-003 series transport modules to offer tremendous scalability:

  • The 3RU shelf easily holds 16 optical modules in a variety of WDM configurations, including 16:1, dual 8:1, quadruple 4:1, and 16 individual channels.
  • The 1RU shelf holds up to two optical modules, in addition to two slots for a wide variety of signal processing functions, including video/audio embedding, A to D, D to A, frame syncs, upconversion, downconversion, and video compression.

In addition to the Universal Video interface, the MD-003 series also provides an OC-3/STM-1 telecom signal interface and a quad 10/100 BaseT Ethernet interface.
