The HD270 Coax™ compression and transport of HD-SDI signals over 270Mbps circuits with outstanding video quality at incredibly low latency. By utilizing field by field encoding, the entire codec process adds less than 10 milliseconds of end-to-end delay.
The encoder design generates a standard-compliant transport stream operating at 270Mbps, enabling broadcasters to utilize existing SD video transport infrastructures for HD signals. Advanced video compression produces extremely high video quality. The dual-encoder can be set to three modes of quality versus delay, offering tremendous flexibility to suit various applications.
The system was designed to ensure compatibility with all 270Mbps equipment and and services via three modes of operation. Clear channel operation mode takes full advantage of the entire available bandwidth and offers optimal video quality and support for all 16 AES audio channels. Ancillary data, including VITC and closed captions are also delivered transparently. Two limited operation modes reduce the video bandwidth and reconfigure the 270Mbit stream to avoid placing data into the horizontal and vertical blanking intervals. These modes provide enhanced compatibility with legacy SDI switching and transport equipment. Each 270Mbps stream contains all of the SAV and EAV timing reference codes that would be found in a standard SDI stream, along with the full compliment of EDH check words and flags.
The HD270 Coax resides in the MD2000™ series multi-purpose frames and the MD-003™ 1RU hybrid frame. Dual redundant power supplies and an SNMP compliant controller with built-in web browser ensures that the system can be controlled and monitored locally or remotely. The MD2000 series frames are available as 16 slot/2RU chassis, 2 slot/1RU half rack chassis and 4 slot/1RU MD-003 hybrid chassis (houses up to two MD2000 series and two MD-003 series modules).
