The MD6000 will transport all live uncompressed HD and SD video feeds over a DWDM contribution network, from all 17 venues around Doha, Qatar to the IBC (International Broadcast Center)
April 3, 2006 (Shelton, CT) - Media Links Inc. today announced the selection of the MD6000 high-performance video transport system to help provide broadcast coverage of the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006 this coming December. The MD6000 will transport all live uncompressed HD and SD video feeds over a DWDM contribution network, from all 17 venues around Doha, Qatar to the IBC (International Broadcast Center), which will enable broadcasters worldwide to distribute quality video back to their respective countries.
“We are excited to have our equipment as the solution of choice for the Asian Games contribution network,” said Mario Frattaroli, president of Media Links, Inc. “We are confident that our products and technology will continue to provide the best solution for video transport.”
The MD6000 Video Transport System provides high-performance video transport over existing SONET/SDH and IP Networks. Advanced technologies, including forward error correction, differential delay adaptation, and hitless protection switching, allow flawless transport of the most demanding types of video signals. Uncompressed HD and SD video along with STM-1 and DVB-ASI signals can all be transported over a variety of networks, including dark fiber, STM-16/OC-48, and STM-64/OC-192.
During its debut at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan/Korea, the MD6000 provided reliable transport of uncompressed HD and SD feeds between the stadiums and seven Tokyo-based broadcasters. The MD6000 also successfully transported uninterrupted video signals over a redundant STM-16 network between Europe and Japan during live broadcasts of the 2004 Athens Summer Games and the 2006 Torino Winter Games, and will be deployed this summer at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. A live demonstration of the MD6000 will be on display at NAB2006 in the Media Links’ booth (C9537).
