Media Links Delivers HD Transport Solution to TV Azteca
Milford, CT – March 17 2008: Media Links, Inc., a leading provider of optical transport solutions for the media and broadcast industry, announced today that its MD-003 transport platform has been selected by TV Azteca, Mexico’s second largest television broadcaster to interconnect key broadcast and sports venues throughout Mexico City. TV Azteca joins the fast growing list of professional media and broadcast customers deploying highly robust video transport solutions from Media Links.
TV Azteca, one of the world’s two largest producers of Spanish-language television programming, will deploy the MD-003 to deliver HD-SDI and compressed DVB-ASI signals to several key transmission facilities. The MD-003 offers a seamless transition between DVB-ASI, SDI and uncompressed HD video signals by automatically detecting the video format. TV Azteca will be able to upgrade its existing HD contribution infrastructure by integrating the MD-003, enabling the company to transport live uncompressed events back to their main production facility.
“The MD-003’s ability to transport uncompressed HD video signals helps deliver higher quality content to viewers,” said David Herfert, Director of North America Sales at Media Links, “and allows TV Azteca to use existing HD production facilities at their main studio in Mexico City.”
The MD-003 product family provides TV Azteca with a future-proof, flexible solution that reliably delivers the high level of service needed to transport a wide array of video formats to existing and future broadcast facilities.
“We selected the MD-003 because of its ability to automatically handle all three types of video that we need to transport (HD-SDI, SDI, and DVB-ASI) and to provide us with an economical platform for future expansion of our network,” said Roman Gomez, Director of Engineering and Technical Development for TV Azteca. “The built-in fiber protection switching allows us to provide highly reliable transport links at a fraction of the cost of dual-redundant networks.”
The MD-003 3RU and 1RU multi-channel, multi-service high performance video transport system provides a reliable uncompressed HD/SD/ASI video transport system over dedicated fiber infrastructure. Advanced technologies, including error correction, fast protection switching, and integrated CWDM/DWDM filters with optical protection switching allow flawless transport of the most demanding types of video signals. Uncompressed HD-SDI, SD-SDI, SDTI, STM-1/OC-3 and DVB/ASI signals along with 10/100BT Ethernet can all be transported.
Key features include: fast protection switching (sub 10ms); in-band remote frame management; bi-directional transmission of up to 32 channels of HD/SD/ASI video signals over a single fiber; integrated CWDM/DWDM passive filters with optical protection switching; and forward error correction
