KDDI Selects Media Links® for 2006 Winter Olympics
MD6000 & MD-003 to provide Uncompressed SD & HD video feeds from Italy to Japan

SHELTON, CT - December 5, 2005 - Media Links, Inc. announces KDDI, Japan’s second largest telecommunications service provider, has chosen the MD6000 and MD-003 products for the upcoming 2006 Winter Games in Torino, Italy. This equipment will transport uncompressed Standard Definition and High Definition video signals across existing undersea fiber optic networks from Torino, Italy to Tokyo, and will distribute the signals to broadcasters across Japan. The Media Links® MD6000, used for the long-distance portion of the network, will be equipped with redundant SDH interfaces and will connect directly to international telecom circuits originating in Torino. Broadcasters highly prize uncompressed SD and HD video signals for their low delay, premium quality, and freedom from visual artifacts commonly introduced by video compression systems. The MD6000’s unique hitless protection switching capability ensures the continuous flow of video signals, even if the primary or the backup telecom circuit fails at any time during the 17 days of competition video transmission.

The Media Links® MD-003 will distribute signals to local broadcasters throughout several cities in Japan. The MD-003 provides a low-cost, high reliability video transport over dark fiber using CWDM technology. Equipped with a unique, dual-fiber interface, the MD-003 provides automatic protection switching without the expense of duplicate optical interfaces.

“KDDI has a strong reputation for reliability and quality of video circuits with television broadcasters throughout Japan.” said A. Mario Frattaroli, President of Media Links, Inc. “Our MD6000 and MD-003 have a proven track record in KDDI’s network, and Media Links® will continue to meet their high expectations as well as those of all our valued customers world wide.”
