Boxborough, MA – January 19, 2010 — Artel Video Systems announces interoperation between DL4000 and Media Links MD8000 Video Transport Platforms.
Artel Video Systems is pleased to announce that in cooperation with Media Links Inc. it has successfully completed an interoperability test between DL4000 and MD8000 Video Transport Platforms. The test included interoperation between Artel’s DLC300, DLC170AD, DLC170DA, and DLC270 and MediaLinks MD8000-VIF modules. This interoperation allows customers to take full advantage of the strength of the MD8000 as a networking platform and DL4000’s strengths as a cost, space and power efficient platform for edge and tributary applications. In addition to SD-SDI, DVB-ASI HD-SDI, and ATSC Artel’s DLC170 enables users to transport Composite NTSC or PAL Analog Video over Media Links IP or SONET based networks.
“AsILEC’s, CLEC’s, and CATV operators expand on their triple play networks, interoperation between platforms has become a critical part of their decision in choosing equipment vendors. With that in mind Artel has been careful to design the DL4000 platform with industry standard interfaces. This has enabled us to work with many IP and SONET based networking platforms including Media Links MD8000.” Said Richard Dellacanonica President of Artel Video Systems, “We will continue this design methodology as we expand the DL4000 platform.”
About DL4000 Video Transport Platform
Released in 2007, the DL4000 is a state of the art video transport platform designed to meet Telcos, CLECs, CATV Operators, and Video Service Providers requirements for reliable optical transport of broadcast quality video in all standard formats including 3G-SDI. DL4000 is the most space and power efficient, cost effective, and flexible video transport platform ever to receive NEBS Level 3 Certification.
About MD8000 Media Transport SystemThe MD8000 is a next-generation media networking system that provides an unmatched level of flexibility and signal integrity for all types of video, audio and data transport applications. By combining a wide variety of signal and network interfaces with an integrated non-blocking switching fabric, the MD8000 goes beyond what has been possible before today. Through the use of an innovative architecture, coupled with extensive development and deployment experience, the MD8000 is able to provide an unprecedented level of performance.
Televisa Powers Contribution Video Network with Media Links
Grupo Televisa Powers Contribution Video Network with Media Links MD8000 PlatformTelevisa interconnects several key transmission facilities throughout Mexico City with MD8000 Milford, CT – October 14th, 2009 – Media Links, Inc., a leading developer of Ethernet based video transport and processing solutions for the media and broadcast industry announced today that its MD8000 transport and switching platform has been delivered to Grupo Televisa, the largest broadcaster and media operator in Latin America. Televisa plans to upgrade their existing transport infrastructure to support full HD-SDI in order to deliver the highest quality level of video prior to network distribution. The MD8000 provides Grupo Televisa a fully protected 40 Gigabit ring topology, future expansion capacity up to 200Gb per location and hitless switching for all video and data traffic. “Media Links was selected for our project as their technology proved to be the best solution to meet our needs of delivering uncompressed HD-SDI over 10 Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces. As we look to expand our contribution video network and migrate existing services onto the new platform, we believe the MD8000 offers Televisa an evolutionary path towards future video and data applications,” said Televisa’s Director of Engineering, Mr. Antonio Pirron. Media Links’ MD8000, developed for the transmission of mission critical video, audio and data applications ranging from JPEG2000, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SDI, DVB-ASI, AES coupled with standards based SONET and IP/Ethernet user and network interfaces, provides a future proof based approach to upcoming network expansions. “The standards based network interfaces supported on the MD8000 allows Televisa the ability to capture and deliver the best quality sports and entertainment content to their consumer,” said John Dale, Vice President Product Management of Media Links. “Broadcaster’s throughout the world have been relying on Media Links technology and our proven ‘Hitless Protection Switching’ to maintain the level of Broadcast excellence users have come to expect when depending on our technology.”
