MD-MAX is Media Links' flagship 160 port 10GbE redundant media switch. It provides a single layer large capacity Ethernet solution for video, audio and data switching/delivery. This system utilizes a very high bandwidth; non-blocking managed and scheduled switching element for video signals up to 3Gb, as well as Layer 2 switching for data signals in a comprehensive single layer switch solution.
Most broadcast transmission systems must be designed to handle multiple video rates and formats due to the wide variety of analog and digital video formats handled by a typical broadcaster. A single layer switch that can handle all formats simplifies multi-format signal routing. In addition, the transition to non-linear workflow based production has created demand for large file transfers in real time or faster which has necessitated high speed data connectivity in support of real time video and audio data traffic. The MD-MAX system provides both, real time transparent video/audio switching, as well as high speed file transfer with guaranteed QoS for each.
Additionally, MD-MAX provides best effort data traffic which can opportunistically take advantage of available bandwidth that remains unused by real time media or file transfer activity. The MD-MAX system includes a redundant single layer switch that can handle the most demanding media content within a broadcast network including real time media, file transfer and best effort data while providing robust error free pixel perfect delivery.
